Thank Goddess, this lack of ethnic diversity in country music does not apply to Nashville as a whole.

Nashville is ethnically diverse. While it is not as diverse as California, where the non-Hispanic “whites” (the term used by US Census) are technically a minority (less than 50% of the population), it is still more diverse than Seattle. Nashville has 64% of its population as non-Hispanic whites.

Unlike the San Francisco Bay Area or the Northwest, the diversity in Nashville does not primarily come from Asians, it comes from African Americans. Also, the number of foreign-born citizens is much lower in Nashville. But then, where in the world would you have another place like Silicon Valley where 40% of the population is born outside the country? While the number of Asian Indians in some Bay Area cities like Milpitas or Sunnyvale exceeds 10%, in Nashville, it is 0.5% which happens to exactly match the number of Asian Indians in Seattle.
